The Commissioner of Customs at Swa tow in his annual report, has the follow. Hongkong to Gap Rock ing referecce to the shipping of the port: As regards the number and tonnage of vessels entered nad cleared, which reached an aggregate of 2,504 vessels, of a tonnage of 2,021,000, freight facilities-may be said to have resumed pre-war conditions. Of this total, the British flag is represented by 1.600 vessels and 2.113.785 tons; the Japanese flag claims 362 vessels and 414,804 tons; the Chinese fag. 266 vessels and 186.768 tons; and the American fag. Entries and 34 vessely and 38,760 tons. elearances of steamers belonging to the non-Treaty Power state of Sium totalled 30, of a capacity of 57,904 tons. The several small steamers under the Chinese flag engaged in the irregular ser- vice between this port and Haiphong vid Hongkong and Hoihow have been obliged to abandon the enterprise finding it unremunerative, and their visits have become very infrequent.
