The F. & O will shartly be receiving a dead-weight, the fire having been Drw cargo steamer of about 8,900 tons launched for the firm by Palmers shipbuild- ing and Iron Co. Ltd. Jarrow-on- Tyne. She is a "B" standard ship and mue of those taken over from the Shipping Controller, by Lord Inchcape. She generally similar to the other four steamers which Palmers have built for the British India Stram Navigation Company. A new passenger cargo steamer for the British India Line the Närada, was launched from the Hebburn yard di Messrs. R. W. Haw: thorn, Leslie and Company, Limited, re- cently She will carry a limited number of first-class passengers and will have accom modation for emigrants. A sister ship, the Nirer, was completed in February and launched in April,
