THE QUESTION OF FREE SEAT).
The Hon. Mr. Claud Severn, proposed the following motion "That this meet ing of statholders and subscribers re- quests the Church Body not to let any new sitting, and to invite each registered seatholder to resign his or her sitting, and to contributo a aam not less than the rent of such sitting year by year to be the Cathedral Funds: every sitting s
resigned to become a Free Seat" He said he did not mean to press his motion, and he would content himself with a proposal to throw the seats ope in the evening. He thought that would make a great difference.
The question of pew rents is discussed at a later stage, and I will now only point out that the work of the Cathedral cannot be carried on without this source of income unless seatholders will submit to the self-denying ordinance which is to be suggested to them, and continue to pay at least the equivalent of the rents in the shape of donations.
Special collections show in increase of nearly $1,000. Out of the total of $3,638, sums amounting to $2,146, have been contributed to various War Funds. Tho largest items are the Frisoners of War collection on the 4th August (8909) and the collections at Organ Recitals for the
