RUCHES AND COLLARE.
The old-fashioned ruché is seen on many gowns and capes and coats, and nay be said to be the smart trimming of the moment. Capes for outdoor wear are in cloth or silk broché set into a collar and yoke of striped silk in black and white or other colours, many of them very crude, others pleasing enough in such mixed stripes as jade, wato and amber, anxc blue, dull moss green; and
chestnut.
The new collar-yoke has not deposed the high Medici striped collar, which is often seen in bright colours on black or dark green or navy blue capos. The brigand shape is in high favour, general trend of fashion thrown back though its full folds contradict the from the chest, it falla in a straight line from the neck at the back, and proves; very becoming to wearers who hold them selves erect, an almost forgotten art.
NEW BUTTONED GOWN.
It is a time of dress revivals. Among the rest is the buttoned gown of the eighties. with certain modifications that: bring it up-to-date, such as the cut-away neck with high collar. Scon first on the race-courses, the gown in question soun found its way to smart tea parties; it. is now seen everywhere, with its long row of buttons from the neck straight down the front and reaching low enough to include the hips in its tight embrace Almost always the skirt of these gowns a very fully flounced with lace, or else there is a rather full tunic falling over the skirt, still tight at the knees, though comfortably full about the ankles.
