The board have to report an increase in net revenue, as compared with the preceding half- year, of $83.273.62. this being. however, a decrease of $19,948.49 as compared with the sverage of the preceding eleven half-years, The inorease in net earnings is partially due to an increased furnover of the dookyard and work-phops. The bat earnings of the wharf department are 325,774.78 loss than the pro- ceding balf-year, and are $13,995, below the average of the preceding eleven half-years,
The expenditure or repairs and renewals is $112,139.25, being an increase of $29,586.48 on the preceding half-year, but a decrease of $13,327 on the average expenditure under this head for the past sloven half years. The increases are 620,877 on account of heavy repairs to ho to Lighters, $8,060 ou account of of repairs to $8,060 ou account of roade and up. proaches, and $6,861 on account of godowns,
Of the total interest paid to Government of $712,632.02 for the half-year ander review $606.679.09 is in respect of interest on the initial capital cost of the undertaking and en debentures redeemed, the balanse, $105,952,93, is in respect of interest on progress cost of new works, The Renewals Equalization aceruat has been oredited with interest for the half-year $8,246.17, and now stands at $420,554.92. The Fire Insurance Reserve Fund has been increas. ed by the additica of interest for the half-year

Reserve Fund 31 (2). at the commencement of the period, stood at $159,980:26, to which bae been credited interest 83,297,63. net cost of wagon sold to Government. Wherres, Pahang, $308.30, and proceeds of the sale of launches Nos. 2 and 5, $4,500, making a total of $168,036.29, the cost of new works 830,833.99, not payable from Loan Funds, having beou dobited to the Fund, the balance at eredit on June 30, | 1911, is $137,252.30.

The expenditure upon the Keppel Harbour Workshops has been principally on the conver- sion of the old fitting and machine shop to a carpenter sad boat-building shop, and on the extension of roads and drains.
the Lagoon Wat Dock and reconstraction of Messrs. Juhn Aird & Co., the contractors for
wharves, having declined to proceed with their contract, the board took possession of the works ad plant on March 8, and have since re-let the contract for the completion of the work to Mesars, Topham, Jones & Railton. The
board completed 500 feet of the West Wharf departmentally.
The work on the new dry dock, Keppel Harbour, which is being carried out by Mesara, Topham, Jones & Railton, Las proceeded very satisfactorily.
The electric power and light installation has been further extended at Tanjong Pagar during the half-year. The pumps at Victoria and Albert Docks are now driven by motors. Practically the whole of the stationary plant throughout the undertaking is now electrically driven. The total number of units supplied from the power station was 608,579.
PENANG ESTABLISHMENTS.
The revenge for the half-year at Prya Rivor dool, Penang, has been more satisfactory, resulting in a profit of $28,870 32 against a lows for the previous balf-year of 82,061,29,
The tonnage handled at the Government Wharves, Penang, during the half-year shows year, but the not revenue is lower by 82,175, in increase of 33,434 tons on the previoná half.

Four new honses to provide quarters for the board's officers at Keppel Harbour were com pleted. Heary repairs were carried out to the boani's house-property, and extensive improve. ments to the drainase of the Nelson Road coolle lines were comploted. A new salt water service for Ere and eanitary purposes is under construe- tion for the Tanjong Pagar section.
Especially is this the case in oonnection with the Far Fastern trade.
