The following is to be added to Article 42 (establishment of general officers):

As to the pay of Stal officers, the Warrant provides that in Article 103 for the Staff Oose for Horse and Field Artillery, Alder shot," there shall be substituted for the rates of pay £650 with quarters and £750 when quar- tere are not allotted

FRANCH BEATS SCOTLAND.

A French Rugby football team recently defeat ed a team representing Scotland for the first tima in international contesta. The match was played on the ground of the Racing Club at Colombes, and was witnessed by a gathering of about 10,000 people. Groat excitement abarac- terised the game, and at the half-time interval the score was 11 points toð in favour of France.

Play in the concluding stage was very fast,, and a splendid contest came to an end with the score: France, 16 points (2 goals and 2 tries); Scotland, 15 points (1 goal, I dropped goal, and 2 tries).
