HINTS TO DECORATORS

FOR USING

Hall's Sanitary Washable Distemper.

To Mix for uses add ab to e-pint of water ta 5 lbs, of Distemper and stir to the consistency of is good thick cream. (Place santities nee only approximate and folgaseat must be exercised in the mixing.) If the Distemper his become stiff, het water should be used, as it mixes more readily.

Whitlur or Lime should be washed oil the walls or ceiling before applying the Distemper. Wallpopers y he painted without removing them, if the pattern is-not too prominent and if the poper wontains no gold, but two lea's will profubly be required.

When walls are very porcus or repaired, cuising too much or suequal suction, we recommende cont of size before using the Distemper. This prevents suction, and the Distemper, when dry, is more washable than it otherwise would be. For vety damp walls give a first coat of "S1800" Damp Ke-isier, also apply this to all dan pitches and to places where the lime or salt is working through

the pister.

White Distemper No. 6 is mule for crillogs and is not ruite so washable as the other colours, When necessary to lighten any of the shade, Cream, (No. 17 should to used for mixing instead of white Dry-colones must not be used for altering the shades, as they take away the binding properties of the Listofer and do not mulx evenly,

All shades marked by the side of the numbers in Colour Book and on the show-carda, may be itsed for pew plastered wall. Any other shades should not be used on damp plaster.

The Distemper should not be mixed too thinly, one coat is usually suficient even on new work,

and will give a resalt equal to two coats of oil paint.

Three weeks after application, but not before, the Paint can be washed. This operation should

be done with a sponge wetted with tegid water and pass:d gently over the wall,
