SMALLPOX SCARE.

The residents of the city of Manila are being Bystematically vaccinated. The law, both by act of the Commission and the rales of the Board of Health, requires that all residents ba n the Board of Health is vachanted, determined to carry out the provisions of the law to the letter. Recently a number of cases of smallpox bave been reported, a large propor- tion of the afflicted being Americans, two of whom have died from the disease, Last month there were twelve Americsus reported to be suf- faring with smallpox, and at one time there were five Americana in the smallpox ward. At the present time there are but three Americans suffering from the disease, all of whom are on a
