concerned. Yet the terrible mortality from malaria contigues practically unchecked. In it really impossibla for us to do what others have done and by one suficiently prolonged Campaign exterminate a pest which does na much as any other disease to render the $20.00 conditions of life in this Colony unpleasant and dangerous? We cannot believe this. It is quite true that such a enmpaign must be expensive, and that we have been for Bome years engaged in a very expensive struggle against plague. Yet it may well be asked what advantage it is to us to go on building up a large surplus from revenue if the Colony is to continue undesirable as a dwelling-place, while other regions, equally afflicted in the past, lave been able to get rid of the scourge which still afflicts us so sorely.
