Messrs. J. P. Bisset & Co.'s Share Beport for the week ending September 24th, states:-A good business has been done during the week, and adjustments for the Settlement on the 29th inst., have been made to a considerable extent: Maatschappij, etc., in Langkat shares have advanced Tia. 15 over last week's closing rate and there is no change of importance in other stocks. Banks-Hongkong and Shanghai Banka have been in good demand and the market closes with buyers at $800, with exchange 73. Insur| ance. - North Chinas are wanted at Tls. 82. Shipping -There is no business reported. Docks and Wharves.-Shanghai Dock and Engineering Co. shares remain at Tla 86. Shanghai and Hongkew Wharf Co.-A fair amount of trans- actions have been reported this week at from Tla 157 to Tla. 161 for cash, and Tls. 158 to Tls. 161 for September. Some sales have taken place for December at Tla. 162 to Tis. 165. The market closes steady. Hongkong and Kowloon Wharf Co. have improved slightly in the South to $49. Sugar Companies.--No business reported. Mining. No business reported Lands.Shang-

French Lands. There are sellers at Tis. 100. Industrial. - Ewo Cotton - A large business has taken place this week at Tls. 621 for cash, Tls. 83 for September, and Tls. 64, 65 anh 651 for December, Shanghai Gas Co. shares have chang ed handa at Tls. 177. Maatschappij &c. in Langkats, The market opened with cash shares at Tls 620, the December rate being Tls. 640, A gradual improvement has taken place since, and without going into every variation of price on each particular day, we will merely quote the closing rates at Tls. 630 for cash and September and Tls. 652 for December. The market is quiet. Shanghai Sumatras T. Co. shares have had a rapid advance to Tls 107 for cash, and Tls. 110 December, buyers. Shanghai Electric Const. Co. There are sellers at 29. Miscellaneous. -There has been a fair general business and rates are as appended below. Loans and Deben- tures. No transactions are reported this week.

TONNAGE,
HONGKONG 2nd October.-There has been a good dem-nd for tonnage during the period under review, and most of the disengaged tonnage has found employment but at unremunerative rates. From Saigon to Hongkong, regular liners are still booking cargo at 4 cents; to Philippines, one charter effected at 25 centf sor 20,009 piouls; } to North Coast Java, 20 cents last. From Wuhu to Swatow, a large business has been put through on the basis of about 16 cents per pical. From Newchwang to Canton, several charters done at
