MISCELLANEOUS EXPORTS

Messrs. Arnhold, Karberg & Co.'s Fortnightly Produce Circular, dated Shanghai, 23rd Sept., states:-Gallnuts.-Plumshaped are offered freely and prices have eased off. It is reported that the crop of usual Galls will be small and prices are firm in consequence. Cowhides, Market closed. Feathers.-A fair demand from home. Little cargo offering. Cotton,-During the past week our market hos strengthened considerably, Farmers claim that the present cold, cloudy weather has hurt the crop. We do not expect that the advance will be lasting. Tallow.-A fair business at steady prices. Strawbraid.—A small business continue to be done in Fine Split, Fine Shingkee, Laichow Mottled, Loyeh and Kwangchow White, prices of all of which have further advanced. For other kinda demand nil, stooks very small. £esamumseed.-A con- tinued good business is done in yellow seed. Prices steady. Crop is estimated at 100,00J Tons or 80 per cent. of last year's. Wool- Sheeps.A small business. The expected im- provement in America has not come." Stocks at Shanghai are moderate. Wood Oil.-A small

HONGKONG SHARE QUOTATIONS.

HONGKONG, 2nd October, 1908.-Business during the past week has been much quieter, and there are few transactions of importance to report. On the whole however rates are well maintained, and the general tendency is still towards higher values. Barsilver in London is quoted at 2343d, and sterling T.T. at 1,9 The T.T. rate on Shanghai is aaobanged at 751.

BANKS.

Hongkong and Shanghais bave ruled firm, and clo-e with buy-rs at 87721, a sale being reported at $775. The London rate is unchanged at £80. There is no business to report in Nationals which are still quoted at $51 with buyers.

MARINE INSURANCES.-Unions are procur- able at $795 to a small ext-at but at $790 there are buyers, Cantons are on offer at $21", after small sale at the rate.

FIRE INSURANCES.-Chines are wanted at $94, and Hongkongs at the improved rate of $325 after sales at the rate,

SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macsos have been booked at $29, and Dougl-ses at 1344, the latter closing with sellers. Star Ferric: continus in request at $15 for the new issue, and Shell Transports at 458., but there is no business to report in either s ́ock.

REFINERIES.

Quotations are unchanged and there is no business to report.

MINING. -Chinese Engineerings bave been booked at Tis. 16, but otherwise there is no busi. ness or change in quotations to report.

DOCKS, WHARVES and GoDOWNS.-Hong kong and Whampoa Docks have been fixed at $94, and more shares can be obtained. Sales are reported of Hongkong and Kowloon Wharves at $49, and of Shanghai Dooks at Tls 86. There are sellers in the North of hangbai and Hong- kew Wharves at Tls. 157.

COTTON MILLS.—No business is reported in ttis section. Hongkongs are steady at $101 ex the dividend of 50 cents per share for the year ending 31st July, 1908, paid on the 28th ultimo.
