LANDS, HOTELS AND BUILDINGS.—There is no business to report in this section, and quotations are unchanged. Humphrey's Estates are wanted at $9, but holders are unwilling to part at this figure.
COTION MILLS.-Ewos have declined to Tls, 59, but otherwise there is no change in quotations to report. Sales of Hongkongs have been effected at $11.
MISCELLANEOUS, Bell's Asbestos have advanced to $74, and Electrics to $174, both with buyers.
China Providents are wanted at $91, and Powell at $4. Cements have again been done in fair quantities at $10 and Ropes at $24. Dairy Farms have been booked at $19 and can now be placed at $20.

Messrs. J. P. Bisset & Co.'s Share Report for the week ending September 3rd, 1908, states:-- The market has again been dull for the past week with very little of interest to record. The only feature being a sharp rise in Langkats from Tha. 565 each to Tls, 585 cash, closing with buyers at this rate. The forward rates have gone up pro- portionately. Banks.-Hongkong and Shanghai Banks. There are now buyers of this stock at $765 and exchange 73, with no shares offering. Marine and Fire Insurance.-No business reported. Shipping. No business reported. Docks and Wharves.-Shanghai and Hongkow Wharf Co. This market is again dull "Transactions are reported at Tis 1724 cash and Tls. 175 for September, but the market closed with sellers at Tls. 172 for cash and forward delivery, Shanghai and Engineering Co. A transaction took place at Tls. 85 and the market closed with buyers at Tis, 84. Lands-Shanghai Land Investment Co. Shares are wanted at Tls. 116, but there are no sellers. A small lot changed hands at Ta. 116. Mining-Chinese Enginee- ring and Mining Co. There is a fair demand for the bearer scrip of this Company and busi- ness has been recorded at Tls. 16.06 and Tls, 16, At the latter rate a fair number of bearer. shares could be placed. Industrial.-Cotton Mills. No business has been reported this week, but there are shares on offer in all the Companies at quotations and shares could probably be obtained at lower rates. Shanghai Pulp and Paper Mills. A transaction is reported at Tis, 55. Shanghai Sumatra Tobacco Co. This market is very firm with buyers at quotations or prob. ably a little higher. Maatschappij &o. in Langkats. The market opened with transactions at Tia. 565 cash and Tla. 570 for September, after which there was a steady rise, and at the close there were buyers at Tis. 585 cash, Tls. 610 for December and Tls, 625 for March, with no sellers. Miscellaneous.-Hall and Holtz shares have been dealt in at $20, and Hotel des Colonies at Tls. 54. A further fall has taken place in Astor Houses, which are now on offer at $16. There are no buyers above $144. Loans and Debentures.-A small lot of Waterworks Deben- tures changed hands at Tls. 108: and some Municipal Debentures were placed direct at Tls. 104.
