Combined Chinese...6, Malayan Selection.....2 AN EMBARRASSING PASS-TIME
A dull, drab game with an astonishing ending
By I. M. MacTAVISH
In a drab, lustreless game at Caroline Hill yesterday after-
noon the Hongkong Combined Chinese defeated
out-
· classed ... and finally quite unnecessarily humiliated, the visiting Malayan Chinese Selection by six goals to two. The official programme contained a reminder that this series of games between teams from Hongkong and Malaya was a means of creating and cementing good relations between the two places. What a pity some of the players did not read these words....but they were not alone to blame. The real culprit in the late flare-up was the referee.
The fetal in charge revent- ed a weaknet which the more forceful players were not slow to exploli and the atrocious ending to the gime must lald fairly and squarely at with door bf the man whistle.
