Oil shares scored gains ranging to 3 points to lead a spirited rally that just about restored the market losses of the first three sessions this week. The oils, particularly those companies with vast stores of natural gas, met heavy demand, and it was said much of the buying was by institutional investors looking for good gains in net income this year.
