Britain may decide to “go it alone” in relaxing the embargo on trade with Red China if the United States refuses to follow suit, official sources said today.
There was no definite indication that Britain planned to relax the embargo even if the United States retains it at its present stiff level. But well-informed sources said pressure from British businessmen eager to break into the profitable Chinese market might well bring about some unilateral British action soon.
