But if you imagine a Fleet Street hack pounding a type- writer between drags at a fag end burning the edge of his desk, you're not thinking of the right man. This one wore a ten-gallon Stetson and tailored cowboy rig all day, every day, and high heeled boots. For a side line he twirled larriats in department stores and children's Saturday cinema clubs. For a hobby he visited sick children and taught them how to strengthen injured limbs and muscles with cowboy toys. He said to me "If a kid saw
