TODAY
Geneva, June 14.
Mr Anthony Eden today (Monday) makes what many delegates here believe will be his last attempt to see if an East-West compromise to end the Indo-China war is possible.
The British Foreign Secretary, who has been the intermediary throughout the eight-week-old deadlocked Asiatic conference here, will make the bid in a meeting with his Soviet opposite number, Mr Vyacheslav Molotov.
If today's meeting fails to narrow the gap, the nine-nation talks here will probably end this week. The Western Powers are hoping that after talks between Mr Molotov and his Chinese and Vietminh colleagues Over the weekend, the Russian statesman will indicate that the Communists may modify their position on the two fundamental problems confronting the conference.
The first and more important -is the dispute over Laos and Cambodia.
