Don't Be Sorry For Me...

Says DEREK DOOLEY

(Former Sheffield Wednesday Centre-Forward)

·

Back home in Sheffield again. It's grand. I can see more clearly now. The doctors, the sisters and nurses in the Preston Infirmary were great people, so kind and gentle, but all the time I was in a kind of dażę. I couldn't think straight....till I got home.

Don't think I'm bemoaning my accident. Lots of people are worse off than I om. 1 have lost a leg, but I have a wonderful wife, n devoted mother and father, and a club whose debt I can never repay.

Perhaps lusing a leg. even though it meant giving up my life-bloodt, football, was for my own good. That's the way I like to look at it. That's the enly way.
