FROM SYNTHETIC FIBRE INDUSTRY IN AMERICA
New York, May 5,
Fortune magazine publishes in its May issue an extensive analysis of the prospects of wool withstanding future competition of the growing synthetic abre Industry.
The article concerned the merits of state- ments made by Dr Roger Adams of the University of Illinois, ex-President of the American Associa- tion for the Advancement of Science, and Mr Eugene Ackerman, head of the Wool Bureau.
Dr Adams was quoted as saying that half of the wool now consumed will be replaced by synthetic fibres within 10 to 20 years. Mr Ackerman, defending the economic need for wool, was quoted as saying that wool, as always, will remain man's premier fibre.
