GOAL TO SING TAO THE CHALLENGE SHIELD

By "SPIV"

Never has there been a team more glorious in defeat this season than Army as they went down yesterday to Sing Tao by two goals to one in the Senior Challenge Shield Soccer Competition.

For fully 90 minutes the capacity crowd were entertained to a great game, in which the defences of both sides stood out prominently and in which thrills followed thrills in quick succession.

Army opened the scoring within the first three minutes staged repeated onslaughts at their opponents' goal with the stoutly holding them at bay.

INTERPORT HOCKEY TRIAL

́By “OBSERVER":

The second Interport hockey trial match yester- day did not produce a pár- Heularly high standard of Play and a few more trial matches are indicated be- fore the Interport match against Macao which, It is understood, Will take place on January 28.

The White stie, which con- sisted of the probable Interpoft XI, did show their superior Ny over the Calord's rest in the first half, scoring three goals with- out reply.

The defence was sound, with the posable exception of Johnny Consalves at left-back and on vesteday's display, a chance for a trial might perhaps be given - to Haramond.

knows

At right half, A.A. Rethodios played an excellent Jry, who game in last year's Interport, has improved his feeding con viderably and plays a fine attack- ing game.

There was an inclination, however, on his pant to go slightly too far up and leave the left-wing open. In the base of the Micro team, it must be re- membered that the left wing is the swift-footed. D'Almelčá.

Bhagat Singh Brice again proved that he was perhaps withoji: equal when on tine defensive In the left-half position.

His feeding, however, in en attacking game does not come up to that required of a Wing-

halt.

A habit that may cast his side valuable goals is his cros contering across the width or the field in the centre. Cont picuous in yesterday's play were the very few passes to the two wings.

MAIN HEADACHE

The forward line will ngein form the main headache of the selectors. G. N. Gersho, ah original choice in the forward dine, was unable to play yester- day on tccount of an injured

nkle, and his place was by Marques.

Although fast, Marques stils has his erratic spells, missing easy passes in his attempts to take them too fast on the tub. He did not combine too well with Brown on the left-wing.

The Colours inside-tight, Entahim, played a consistently good game yesterday, and it would be a good idea on the part of the Selectors to try hir In his necustomed position of Ihalde-right and put MeKenzie back to his old positioh of Finalde-left
