Washington, Sept. 28. The International Mone- 'tary Fund today dropped the rule requiring member nations to obtain its sp. proval to sell gold at more than $35 an ounce.

Manoeuvres In Germany

Paris, Sept. 28.

Three giant manoeuvres and preparations for a fourth filled Western Europe's fields and skies today with more troops and planes than have been seen on the move since the war.

An eight-nation armada of 1,000 fighter and bomber planes today began four days of jet "dog fights" over the Alps and simulated mass bombing raids on Paris and Brussels in "Exercise Cirrus", the biggest mock air war Western Europe has known.

Of the 700 fighters taking part 95 per cent are jets.

They are using 23 airfields, 54,000 miles of land telephono Hes and 6,000,000 litres
