Tuberculosis continues to be the most important single cause of morbidity and mortality amongst the adult popu- lution, and the incidenco of the discase; continues to mount. The total of 9,267 new cases and 3,263 deaths were reported during the year. These are the official figures, but the actual numbers may be very much higher cases for one reason or another not being reported. It is difficult to estimate the total number of cases that exist in the Colony, but it must amount to many tens of thousands, and it is safe to say that at least 1 person in every thousand died during the year 1950. of tuberculosis.
