Bremerhaven, July 30.
An American naval officer and a Gorman yachts- man left here today in their 16-ton yacht in which they intend to sail the Atlantic.
They are Lieutenant Commander Jack
Wool
(U.S.N. Retired), aged 46, of San Rafael, California, and Erich Koeppen, aged 42, of Bremen-burg, a Bremerhaven suburb.
Cmdr. Wool said today that for a long time he had had a vague idea of a yacht he want- ed to build, and that when he came to Germany and met Koeppen, a German yacht de- signer, he and Wool worked out detalls of its design.
They started building in 1940 and finished early this year. The ail-steel vessel cost about US$6,000.
From Bremerhaven they will sail to England, Spain and Portu- gol, picking up a third crew member, Edbe G. Kolbeck, aged 30. of San Diego, California, former Marine, in Lisbon.
