ROMULO DENIES REPORTS OF PI'S COLLAPSE
The following dispatch was written especially for the United Press by General Carlos Romulo, Philippine Secretary of Foreign Afairs.
By CARLOS ROMULO
Washington, June 15, Reports in the American press reaching us in the Philippines concerning an alleged imminent collapse of the Philippine Government are at worst fantastic and at bost exaggerated... I have lived for a long time in the United States and have been a journalist for more than 20 years and I can understand how such reports read in the context of a world in crisis may sometimes assume the character of exag- gerated alarm.
I have just arrived from there (the Philippines) after acquainting myself with local conditions more intimately than usual as Socratary of Foreign Affairs in President Elpidio Quirino's Cabinet.

Impatient call

Buch criticism arises from an Impatient call for swift action on matters which often ile ha. yond the present competence of the Government. People, who have lived through danger and chaos for four years of Japanese Occupation and through four years of painful reorganisation after liberation are perhaps on- titled to such feeling, of im- patience.
