SINO-RUSSIAN CASE KEPT ALIVE IN UN Dispute Referred To Interim Committee

A VICTORY. FOR CHINA

Lake Success, Docembor 6. The United Nations Main Political Committee today recom- mended that Nationalist China's dispute with Russia be sent to the interim committee which meets between Assembly ses- sions for continuous study and report to the next session of the full Assembly.

The vote was 2419, with 14 obstentions. Russia and her four Cominform partners voted against the measure. Yugoslavia abstained. The vote was regarded as a diplomotic victory for Nationalist China because it keeps its case alive before the United Nations.

Observers regard it as a setback for the United States. The U.S. Ambas- sador-at-large, Dr. Philip Jossup, State Department export on the Far East, had opposed the move to send the Chinese issue to the "Lit- tle Assembly."
