London, September 22. Two Canadian seamen, former members of the crew of the Cana- diar ship, Beaverbrae, were sen- tenced here today to 18 months' imprisonment each for an attack on other members of the crew.

The men, 22-year-old Allan Joseph McIsaac and Gerald Fre- derick Doucette, also 22, were said

to have attacked William Bell and Donald Hudson in a London public house while the Beaverbrae was strike-bound in London Both Bell and Hudson bad returned to the ship before the end of the strike.

The Broken Bottle

Washington, September 22.

The Secretary of State, Mr. Dean Acheson, is ex- pected to give the Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru, a complete picture of the United States plan to block the spread of Com munism in Asia when Mr. Nehru visits the United States in October.

A high American official said while there was no formal agenda for discussions between Mr. Nehru and officials here, Mr. Acheson un- doubtedly would tell the Indian Prime Minis- ter of plans to support and strengthen nation- alist governments in South East Asia as a bar- rier to further Communistic inroads in the. For East.

The

informant said in addition Mr. Acheson would review for Mr. Nehru the decisions on Far Eastern policy arrived at by Mr. Acheson and the British Foreign Minister, Mr. Ernest Bevin, and the French Foreign Minister, Mr. Robert Schuman, during their recent meeting here.

London, September 22.

An emergency meeting in London of the Interna- tional Air Transport Association decided to- day 'to increase the fares of airlines operating services from soft currency areas to the Ameri- can Continent.

Sir William Hildred,, Director General of the IATA,

announced the decision tonight.

The conference decided today that there would be no increase in sterling fares from Britain to Europe, India, the Middle East, the Far East, Australia or South Africa.

This decision means reductions in the dollar fares charged by American companies with East- ward services into these areas.
