How To Pull And Get Out

Of A Skid

Knowing how to pull and get your car out of a skid is the most important subject in safe motor- ing.

The first thing to do is to turn the front wheels of the car in direction of the skid and avoid applying the brakes immediately, but accelerate lightly until the skid is completely under your control. Then apply the brakes. lightly and intermittently.

The natural reaction is to freeze on the brakes at first, instead of accelerating. If there is a blow- out and the car runs off the side of the road. the first thing to do is not to try to steer back to the original line of travel by turning the wheel sharply to the opposite direction of the skid. The Austin Motor Company of Birmingham has achieved an all time record in the export field; since January this year its over- seas shipments totalled 76,003 vehicles valued at £26 million.

Colonel Waite, Deputy Chair- man of Austins revealed this achievement at a dinner given in honour of between 40-50 leading motor traders from Belgium at present on a visit to the UK Belgium is one of Austin's best export markets and demand is so heavy that most of these traders have a waiting list of customers for Austin cars.
