Plan Endorsed
Washington, May 10.
JAPAN
The Army today endorsed a plan to put the Japanese textile industry back on its feet with U.S. cotton and wool. Under-Secretary, William C. Draper, who recently returned from a tour of Japan, told a House of Representatives Armed Services Sub-committee the plan would reduce occupation costs imme- diately and enable the Japanese to become economically self-sufficient,
He testified in support of a bill to establish a US$150,000,- 091 revolving fund, which would be used by the Army to purchase surplus raw materials The materials in this country, would include cotton, Bax and word.
The plan would affect 'all oc- chipted areas, but Draper said the principal benelleiary would Japan.
