Effect On British Commonwealth
New York, Sept. 14.
The wartime spread of Industrialisation in the major British Empire countries is likely to have far-reaching effects on International trade, hitting particularly British and United States exports to the British Commonwealth, a trade survey made for the 20th Century Fund, a United States trade research body, suggested today.
Before the war, 40 per cent of all United States exports went to the British Empire, and the Dominions and India were important export markets for British manufactured food, but it was doubtful if India and the Dominions would want or need industrial imports of the same type again, the report said.
