Cotton Mills
Shanghai, Mar. 25. Thirty-eight former
mills Japanese cotton totalling 1,758,480 yarn spindles, 330,256 thread spindles and 38,591 looms yielded to the Chinese Government a net profit of CN$1,000,000,000,000 (about US$83,400,000) during the past year, according to the Gov- ernment-owned China Textile Industries Cor- poration which is operating these mills, The CTIC said the reported profit included CN$80,000,000,000 sent to the National Trea- sury in cash as well as accounts receivable for yarn and cloth for military use amounting to CN$100,000,000,000.
It was pointed out that part amounting to US$75,000,000 to of the net profit represented the US$100.000.000 current value of yarns, raw cotton, cloth and other mater. ials now on hand.
