GRUNER PETITION REJECTED

London, Mar. 26.

The Privy Council's judicial committee today dis- missed a petition to permit Dov Gruner, Pales- tine Jewish extremist, to appeal against the death sentence.

Gruner was sentenced to death on Jan. 1 by a military tribunal in Palestine for terrorist activity.

Ilis sentence touched off al wave of terror by Ergun Zvati Leum, extremist organisailon which propagandised the hand- some, 32-year-old prisoner as a martyr.

The petition was taken to the Privy Council by Dov Graner's New uncle, Frank Gruner of York, for speelst leave to appeal on his nephew's behalf. Gruner: has a sister, Mrs. Helen Fried- nan, who lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
