HEAVY FLOODS IN SHUMCHUN REGION

Conditions on the Chinese side of the border now under Japanese military occupation have become increasingly severe for both the Japanese forces and Chinese civilians.

Practically the whole region is now flooded owing to the further heavy rains of the last day or two and the road between Namtau and Shumchun is impassable.

The Japanese are now dropping supplies to their

forces along the border by parachute transport condi- tions being so bad that even pack horses flounder and cannot maintain regular contact adequately.
