Tokyo, To-day. The Soviets are uneasy over the reinforcement of Germany, says the Stockholm correspondent of the newspaper, "Asahi," who quotes authoritative Soviet quarters that the Kremlin believes in the Allied chances of ultimate victory and, consequently, conducts negotiations with London while maintaining friendly relations with the Reich "in an effort not to be caught off guard.”
BOMBARDMENT"
FROM THE HOT AIR
London, To-day.
On Sunday, the Germans put out lies about having bombed British aerodromes In England and the lies are growing. by leaps and bounds, the latest version extending the bombing to several Channel ports.
These stories are entirely untrue }. and people on the south coast are in a position to discount them from their own knowledge.
On Friday night, as already an nounced, a few bombs fell in coun- try districts in Yorkshire, East Anglia and Essex. Little damage was done and only eight civilians were injured.

ITALY LOOKS AT WAR
Rome, To-day.
The Italian press shows signs that a little more attention is being made to a more sober appreciation of the situa-
tion.
Writing in Telegrafo," Signor An¬, saldo says that the war will not end until Germany has invaded and cap-" tured Britain, while Signor Gayda does not think that the war is near its end. -Reuter.
Although, adds the "Asahi," this does not mean that Moscow is becoming pro-British or pro-French "the Soviet Union is drifting away slowly from its manifested position of friendship to- wards Germany especially since the success of the German drives into the Low Countries and France."
-WARY ATTITUDE
As symptoms of the Soviet's wary attitude towards Germany, the Asahi notably sees:-
Firstly, the Soviet statement that all military activities in the Balkans will be regarded as un- favourable by the Kremlin:
Secondly, the feverish reinforce- ment of the Soviet Air Force, and of populations living within 30 miles Thirdly, the forcible transfer:inland of the new Soviet-German border, in former Poland, indicating that vast scale fortifications are to be under- taken in the frontier area. Havas.
