THE RE-GROUPING OF BRITISH, French and Nor- VICTORY

wegian forces in Norway continues to evolve without incident, according to authoritative military circles here.

The situation at Narvik is gradually being clarified as Allied troops progressively enter into contact with the German forces.

Yesterday, for the first time, Ger- man aircraft intervened in the fight- ing, bombing a village to the north of the town.

Latest information available here indicates that the German forces at Narvik do not greatly exceed three thousand men, of which 1,000 are occupying Tunnela and the bridges on the railway to Sweden, while the other two thousand are in separate groups, holding out around the town of Narvik with their backs to the

sea.

Their positions yesterday were bom- barded by land artillery and naval guns. Reuter.

It is suggested that the machine was primarily engaged in reconnoitering to discover whether any Allied forces\ from Namsos had been transferred to the Kirkenes region-Reuter.
