CHOICE OF PLAYS
It is very seldom that a will be forced with the choice of two plays, each of which offers exactly Almost an even chance for success. always one play will have some slight advantage in its favour. The bidding may have given a club, or, as was the case in to-day's hand, it may simply be a question of pure mathematics.

Declarer the spade by a successful heart finesse. Pondering on which finesse to take, South finally concluded that there was one slight advantage in adopting the heart play. There was a chance that the diamond King might be singleton. Declarer therefore laid down diamond Ace with the further inten- tion of taking the heart finesse if the King did not drop. To his joy, the King fell and now no finesse was needed..
