HINDU-MOSLEM RIOTS IN SUKKUR
London, To-day. ACCORDING TO A statement on the recent Hindu- Moslem rioting at Sukkur, in the province of Sind, made public by the India Office, the com- munal tension, which has existed for some time there, has its origin in a group of old Government buildings known as the Manzilgah.
These buildings were claimed by the Moslems to be
a mosque, a claim which the Hindus opposed. The local authorities decided to take possession of the Manzilgah, ejecting the Moslem volunteers who had occupied the buildings.

Long Island, to-day, then stopped passing car, stepped in and chortled: "To the police station, please. I have just bumped off our dear Mayor."
When a lynch mob surged round the policeman shouting. "Hang him, hang him," he wise-cracked, thumbed his nose at them and shouted. "I'm glad I did it, you big bunch of saps."
He was husky Ivan Dooley. There was a fued between him and Mayor Louis Edwards, of Long Beach, the fashionable resort. Dooley had been suspected of compolicity in a murder and had been reduced in rank.
Mayor Edwards was walking to-day with a bodyguard led by Police-Ser- geant James Walsh when Dooley stepped from a roadside police booth and fired.
The Mayor fell dead; Walsh fell critically wounded; and a passing postman was wounded.
When the crowd, led by a woman, rushed up ready to lynch him, Dooley kept on laughing and vise-cracking.
Police with drawn revolvers sur- rounded him- to protect him, while others charged the mob and saved him from their vengeance.
Late to-night Dooley was moved to a secret gaol.
