FINE MATCH EXPECTED BETWEEN RECREIO, K.C.C. Last Season's Leaders To Meet This Afternoon

A POINTER AS TO the respective current strengths of the two most powerful teams in the Senior Cricket League last season should be provided this afternoon when Kow- loon Cricket Club, runners-up, entertain Club de Recreio, the champions.
Both teams are treating this fixture with great serious- ness in view of the great moral effect a win or a loss would have when the League match is played later in the season, and both clubs are fielding their strongest possible sides.

As recently as last season I should have had little hesi- tation in predicting as close a fight as one could wish for in the Senior Ladies' hockey fixture between "Y" and Hong Kong Ladies.

This afternoon these teams meet at King's Park but in view of the con- vincing form shown hitherto by "Y" and the equally unimpressive per- formances of Hong Kong, I have little hesitation in naming the former team as winners. They should win the al- points by a comfortable margin though Miss Pocock, an original selec- tion, is unfit and will be replaced by

Hong Kong Volunteers are fielding | Mrs. Ashman, from the junior team. a very useful fifteen for their Rugby match against Army on the Club ground to-day at 4.15 p.m.. and it would be difficult to forecast the re- sult, the Volunteers having the better outsides and the Army a superior pack.
The absence of Thompson, who is down with malaria, has caused the removal of Needham from the second row of the pack to full-back, where he tackles well, though he may not prove fast enough.

A close game should result from the fixture between Recreio and C.B.A. This match will mark Recreio's debut to the ranks of senior hockey and they can be depended upon to give of their best. If their forwards take advantage of the shooting opportuni- ties which come their way they may manage to pull it off, but the greater experience of Miss I. Woolley and her contemporaries will probably decide the issue in favour of C.B.A.
The Junior fixtures should result in victories for "Y" Ladies, Argonauts and Recreio over C.B.S., St. Andrew's and C.B.A. respectively,
