Yesterday, however, Miss Peggy Medley, a young Canadian girl, returned to her home in Kowloon and found her mother in tears.
She then learned, for the first time, that her mother had' received a cable on September 26, announcing that her brother, Mr. Henry Griffiths, and his son, the chief engineer and wireless operator respectively, of a ship to- pedoed in the Atlantic on September 24, had died in the disaster.
September 26 being the date of Peggy's birthday, and there being a small party in progress, Mrs. Medley decided not to spoil her daughter's long-looked forward-to evening by breaking the sad news.
