THE ITALIAN COUNCIL of Ministers, under Signor Mussolini, met yesterday morning, the discussion ending just before noon.

Directly Count Ciano, the Foreign Minister, arrived in Rome, he called on II Duce, and the Council was delayed until Count Ciano had reported on the result of his Berlin visit.·

Count Ciano was accompanied by air attache in Berlin reported to I Signor Bastianini, Under-Secretary in Duce on his work in Germany. the Foreign Office, who is the new Italian Ambassador to London.

It is suggested therefore that the peace overtures will be made to Britain by the new Italian envoy.

OF RUMANIAN WHEAT

Mr. Oliver Stanley, Presi- dent of the Board of Trade, announced in the House of Commons yesterday that his department was making ar- rangements for certain pur- chases in this country 'by Rumanian wheat.

Mr. Stanley said they were also in touch with the Latvian Government on the subject of Anglo-Latvian trade): which at present was interrupted in the Baltic.

He said there would be some delay in the issue of export licenses, owing to the immense work to which his de-- partment was subjected.

He could not promise the immediate issue of licenses as certain goods might. be wanted in this country.-Reuter.

SINCERE'S FINED $1,000 IN KLIM MILK CASE

THE SINCERE COMPANY, LIMITED, one of the Colony's leading department stores, was fined $1,000 in the Cen- tral Police Court this morning for selling Klim pow- dered milk at a price contrary to the Food Price Con- trol Regulations.

It was alleged that defendant company sold Mrs. B. W. Simmons a five-pound tin of Klim's Powdered Milk at the price of $11.65, being more than 10 per cent, above the retail price prevailing in the Colony on August 31.

Mr. M. J. Abbott, Assistant Crowp he visited several chops. On September 15, Sincere's were selling 11 per cent. over the whole sale price and a summons was taken out against them.

PRICE EVIDENCE

Mr. P. Morphew, merchant, stated that in August the wholesale price for 10 five-pound tins of Klim's Powered Milk was $110.20. Two per cent. discount was allowed for each, therefore the price of one tin was $9.00,
