CIANO'S SUDDEN RETURN TO ROME CAUSES SURPRISE

Rome, To-day.

THE ITALIAN FOREIGN MINISTER, Count Ciano, pre- maturely returned to the capital last evening and visit- ed Signor Mussolini.

}

Originally, his departure from Tirana was fixed for Mon-

day, says Trans-Ocean.

He was accompanied to Rome by the Governor of Albania,

Benini.

Nothing is so far known as to the reasons for the unexpected return of Count Ciano.

It has been reported by. Reuter, however, that Signor Attilico, the Ita- lian Ambassador in Berlin, has ar- rived in Rome for discussion of mat- ters arising out of the Salzburg talks.

Despite the speculations which have developed round the journey- ings of Count Cɛaky, the Hungar- lan Foreign Minister, one thing clear, according to well-informed sources, namely, that his arrival in Rome came as a complete surprise to the Italian Government.

A statement was put out, it is true, that the visit was arranged long be- forehand; nevertheless, it is also true that Count Ciano was compell- ed to cancel his plans for his Tirana visit in order Csaky, and with such suddenness, that announcement of his departure for Tirana had already been announced

to the Italian press.
