Italo-Spanish Treaty Predicted
Rome, To-day. The Pandua newspaper "Corriere Padano" pur- ports to know that as a result of the discussions between Count Ciano, the Italian Foreign Minister, and General Franco, dictator "of Spain, the basis of a comprehensive economic and political agreement between. Spain and Italy will be reached.
The official signing of the treaty may be delayed. Rome quarters point out in this connection that toasts exchanged during Count Ciano's visit to Spain, as well as the official communique issued on the discussions, show clearly the deepening of relations between the two countries.
It is, therefore, entirely, feasi; ble, it is added, that complete con- sent reached on all questions af- fecting Spain and Italy ultimately be laid down in a treaty.
The director of the semi-official "Gionale d'Italia" declares that the history of these two great na- tions and peoples is not made on paper but results from the same spirit, the same fate, the same in- terests and the same aims. Trea- ties would only be signed when the final phase--of-development --had been reached.
