THE DAILY SHORT STORY
Not Bright Enough
For a while I thought we were going to have a time with Owen Gaskill af ter we told him about the murder of Otto. Otto was: Owen's half brother, but there was a bond between them, that was stronger than that which exists between own brothers.
Tears came into Owen's. eyes. "I'll find that man who did it! I'll find and kill him, if it's the last thing I do!”

"To think," he said, "that at the very moment when it happened I was talking to the one man who could and, was willing to help us out of our difficulties..**

He smiled indulgently, slipped the gun into his packet and followed me downstairs.

The lieutenant scratclied his chin. "How's the kid taking it?!
"Not so good. "He's been making threats. Perhaps you'd better have a talk with him, Licutenant."
“I'll do that.”
