Berlin, To-day.

The Slovak Government announces that Hungarian troops have invaded eastern Slovakia, accord- ing to a message from Bratislava.

Later reports indicate that the Hungarian incur- sions into Slovakia are rather more serious and far-reaching than at first believed.

A formal Note has been sent from Bratislava to Budapest protesting against the violation of Slovak territory, and demanding a satisfactory reply within a few hours. This has been given. Information has also been sent) to Berlin but it is not yet known whether German military assist- ance was requested.

In the meantime, troops are resisting the attacks,| and minor engagements are re- ported to have occurred, with ca- sualties on both sides.

Aeroplanes have appeared over Prdesov, but no bombs were dropped.

The reply of the Hungarian Count Csaky Foreign Minister, (says a Budapest cable), pro- mised, an urgent investigation, and stated that the fact that Slovakia's Eastern frontier was never delimited might have led to a local dispute.

OPERATIONS DENIED

He denied there was any ques- tion of a military operation, and added that rumours that Hungar- ian troops were conducting opera- tions with the encouragement or tacit approval of Germany, were deliberate lies. Reuter.
