MACMAHON LETTERS AT LAST PUBLISHED
London, To-day.
.
on
The McMahon correspondence, covering an ex- change of letters between Sherif Hussein of Mecca and Sir Henry McMahon, in 1915, which the Palestine Arabs base their claims to independence, was issued in the form of a White Paper this morning.
The correspondence covers 18 printed papers and is accompanied by an explanatory map giving the inner confines of Syria under Turkish sovereignty.
The letters in question formed. part of the British war plan to en- courage the Arab revolution in the Ottoman Empire' a plan which succeeded largely because of the influence and activities of Colonel T. E. Lawrencé.

H. K. C. C. C. C. C.
The first letter, dated July 14, Navy. 1915, from the Sherif of Mecca to Sir Henry McMahon, invited Great Britain "to acknowledge the inde- pendence of the Arab countries" within certain boundaries compris- ing the whole Arabian Peninsula and including what is now known as Palestine, Trans-Jordan, Syria and Iraq.
KITCHENER MESSAGE :
A reply from Sir Henry McMa- hon dated August 30, 1915; assert- ed that any negotiations on the questions of limits and boundaries appeared to be premature.
It confirmed the terms of a mes- sage from Lord Kitchener pre- viously communicated to the Arabs in which Britain stated her "clear desire for the independence of Arabla." Reuter.

SENIOR CRICKET LEAGUE TO BE DECIDED?
K.C.C. Entertain Recreio
?
(By “ADREM”)
By this evening we should have a very good idea which clubhouse is destined to houss the Senfor Cric- ket Shield for the next 12 months.
Chief centre of interest will be the Kowloon Cricket Club where the home team receive Club de Re- creio. It is generally expected that one of these two clubs will win, the championship.
*K.C.C. are in slightly the more satisfactory position as they have already beaten Hong Kong Cricket Club but against that, Recreto have beaten Craigengower with whom Kowloon could only manage to draw and have drawn with LR,C., whom Kowloon meet next Saturday.”“
STRONG ATTACK.
An uninteresting ladies hoc- key programme is down for decl- sion this afternoon, although to-
