Two By-Election Results Reveal Trend

No Changes But Government Losing Ground

London, To-day.

Indicative of the state of mind of the electorate, the Government, after retaining Walsall in Wed- nesday's by-election with a reduced majority, sustained a smashing defeat in the by-election at Doncaster yesterday.

Traditionally Labour, the Yorkshire electors voted in convincing fashion to return the Labour candidate with an increased majority of 4,000.

SIR HORACE WILSON: WHO IS THIS MAN?

London, To-day.

In the Commons yesterday, the Prime Minister was questioned on the position of Sir Horace Wilson- the civil servant who accompanied him, together with Foreign Office officials, on his visits to Germany in September.

Successive Conservative candid- ates having failed, a National Libéral stood yesterday as Govern- ment candidate, and was defeated by over 11,000 votes.

Results of the polling at Walsall and Doncaster are significant, and political quarters are canvassing the possibility of Mr. Chamberlain being forced to appeal to the coun- try for approval of his foreign policy.

Yesterday's polling, at Doncaster resulted:
