French Colonial

Attitude

Annoys Germany

Berlin, To-day.

The attitude adopted by the Radical Socialist Con- gress in Marseilles towards the colonial ques- tion was criticised in extremely sharp lan- guage yesterday by the diplomatic correspon- dent of the "Berliner Boersenzeitung," Karl Megerle, who is regarded as one of the fore- most German specialists in foreign affairs. The congress, it will be recalled, passed a resolu- tion urging the French Government to "reject emphatically all colonial demands of a terri- torial character that might be put forward by foreign Powers and to limit the eventual nego- tiations in the colonial question to an enquiry regarding the just distribution of raw materials."

This resolution rejects German colonial claims with a bluntness "which is completely incompatible with the spirit of commonsense and good will” · of which M. Daladier spoke two days earlier when refer- ring to Franco-German relations.
