Canton, To-day. It is officially announced that the Japanese fully occupied Amoy Island on Friday, all Chinese troops having retired to the main- land.

The Japanese are sending gong- beaters about the Island informing the population that the Chin- ese troops have been driven away and that the Japanese will take over the administration.

Residents have been ordered to surrender all firearms to the Japan- ese. Most of the Chinese, are, however, still on Kulangsu.

Meanwhile there is a heavy con- centration of Chinese forces on the mainland.

NEXT MOVE?

No attempt has yet been made by the Japanese to land troops on the Fukien coast between Amoy and Foochow. It is however ex- pested that the next move will come soon and that the most likely place for the Japanese to attempt to land _will_be_in_the_vicinity of Swatow.-
