CENTAURUS LATE AT ALEXANDRIA
Alexandria, To-day. Imperial Airways flyingboat Centaurus which is inaugurating the accelerated new air service to Brisbane, arrived in Alexandria yesterday slightly later than schedule owing to the heavy head- winds encountered.-Reuter.
GROWING USE OF ELECTRICITY IN BRITAIN

The Report of the Electricity Commission for the year ending. March 31 1937, states that there was a net increase of 852,000 or 11.-
in the number of consumers of electricity connected to public sup- ply systems during the year, and the total at the end was 8,557,000 ́of whom 85% were domestic con-
sumers.
Total sales to consumers amount- ed to 17,147,000,000 units, or about 374 units per head of the popula- tion.
During the year, electricity sup- ply undertakings of public authori- ties charged to revenue account to- talled over $14.806,000.
Net total revenue of authorised undertakers, exclusive of sales in bulk, was £84,313,000 against £76,547,000 in the previous year, representing an average of 1.180 pence per unit sold against 1221 pence-British Wireless.
