Eden Resignation Debated In House Of Lords

London, To-day.

Mr. Anthony Eden's resignation was raised in the Lords last evening by the Labour opposition. Lord Addision (Labour) thought the Govern- ment's decision to proceed with Anglo-Italian conversations without the preliminary condi- tion their Foreign Secretary considered desir- able, was a risky and unbusinesslike proceed- ing and he expressed anxiety that there should be the closest co-operation with the French Government.

Lord Lothian supported the Government in the po- licy of trying to break through the miasma of suspicion which lay over Europe and to seek an arrangement to save Europe and the world from a repetition of 1914
