The marvel is that the Swansea defence was not riddled, for the Cardiff backs were plied with the ball almost monotonously. It seemed as if a sense of chivalry softened the hearts of the Cardiff men and prevented them from taking full advantage of a for- ward superiority which made the task of the Swansea backs heart- breaking and hopeless.
Many of us looked forward before the game to an
an interesting duel between Cliff Jones and W. T. H Davies, , but what can he said of an encounter in which only one of the principals is provided with a chance? A CLIFF JONES SPECIAL Cliff Jones scored one amazing try, which deserves to be recorded in detail. He darted away on the blind side of a scrum" at half-way, and slipped between W. T. H. Davies and Morgan into the open. He ran like a hate to within 10 yards of the line, but then was sandwiched be- tween two men who converged upon. him from left and right. He seemed to be trapped, but somehow he shook himself free, and raced over the line with both his opponents left prone- on the ground behind him.
This happened in the first half. Previously Edwards had cut right through the centre and dashed over the Swansea line to score a try which Wooller converted, and Wooller's conversion of Cliff Jones's. try gave Cardiff a lead of 10 points at half-time...
DROPPED GOAL
In the second half Wooller dropp ed a goal and A. H. Jones: dropped another. Swansea at long last suc- ceeded in getting a clean heel, and Davies made an opening from which Powell scored a try in the corner.
* Then, in the last minute, the Car-- diff backs brought off a fine round of passing, and Porter, receiving in the Swansea 25, sprinted gloriously for the corner and managed to get the ball down before rolling touch in goal.
